About Us
The Highland Perthshire Challenge was conceived by Alan Laverock, Eric Wagner and Kevin Simpson in 2011. The idea came about based on their own cycling experience, a love of the Highland Perthshire area and their personal commitment to helping some of the world’s poorest people. They have all been part of teams which have worked in Malawi over the last five years and they are now involved in a long term economic development project in that country.

2013 Event Date – Saturday 24 August 2013
The Highland Perthshire Challenge is now in its third year and for 2013 we’re going back to a Saturday in August when the calendar is less crowded – and with the added bonus that you have longer to build up the training ready for a 100 mile challenge! The routes will be as last year with a choice of 50 or 100 miles, great scenery, friendly volunteers and excellent refreshments along the way.
Thanks to all who took part in the second Highland Perthshire Challenge in 2012. Here we have some photographs from the event.

2013 Event Date – Saturday 1 June 2013
Following the success of the inaugural event last year, we are geared up for a bigger and better Sportive. Once again we are offering the beginner’s route – 30 relatively gently miles on really quiet roads. But for the experienced rider there’s the challenge of the mighty Cairn – 80 miles of varied and spectacular scenery including that amazing climb! It was 26 degrees last year and we can’t promise a repeat of the weather but we’d love to see you there.
Thanks to all who took part in 2012 on the very first Cairn O’ Mount Challenge. Here you can see some photographs from the event.
